Illness and other ramblings......

Ever have one of those days where you just feel ill but not sick enough to go to the doctor?? Well I did today. My awesome hubs took the kids to church and let me stay in bed....IN BED!! Yes you heard that right! I can't remember the last time that happened.  They brought me lunch and he had the lil monsters clean up the house for me.  HE. IS. MY. HERO.  As I write this I am cozy in my bed, with a clean house and happy family.  So this brings me to the real reason of my post.  What things in life make you feel better when you don't feel so good?? There are a  few things that I have to have so I can feel better.  First up is my blanket, we all have one, go ahead admit I know you do. :)  Mine is all white, not too heavy not too light.  You know when you are sick one leg is under the blanket one leg is out, well this one is perfect.....

My other "must have" is my favorite beverage on earth none other than Coke! I love it.  I try not to drink it too often but when I am sick don't bother making me hot tea or some crap like that....just bring me a coke people!!

Now this is my total "must have" during cold and flu season, you may be asking why is she rambling on about what makes her feel better when she is sick?? Well I don't have a good reason but today seemed like a good day to talk about it.  Here I sit with all my favs thinking about my next craft adventure but all I can think about is feeling better! Blah! Believe me I would rather be getting my hands dirty painting something or moving furniture... ohh my, did I just say that....THAT is a whole other posting right there ladies and gentlemen.  Moving furniture in your home.  I will just stop right there.  I am the queen of furniture moving.  I live to create new arrangements in my home, heck I would come to your house and move your furniture!! My hubs never knows what color or where the furniture will be in our home. Poor guy comes home in the dark from work, I have to leave the lamp on for him so he won't break a leg or something. There I admitted it!!! I have a furniture arrangement issues!   Ok back to my "must have".  I really like this, heck my kids ask for it now when they are sick. It makes us feel sooo much better......

I think between these items I can be cured pretty quickly... well and lots of prayers! The weather here is all over the place... tis the season for all the yuckies my family and I will pick up this season.  Hopefully we will be passed over, no one likes to be sick. :(  I hope you and your family stay well, if you find your self under the weather find the things that make it all better and hopefully you will be cured too....don't forget to say your prayers! ;)

Easy Fall Craft

My favorite time of the year is fall.  The weather changes, the colors in the sky become more vibrant, the cool snap in the air just feels so awesome.  Since I do love all things crafty, I find that the ideas flow more easily this time of year as well.  Today I wanted to create something fun from sticks.  Behind our home there are lots of trees and tall grass.  I am sure my neighbors think I am some strange nature weirdo mountain woman but off I go with clippers and bags in hand looking for the perfect set of sticks.  This project is pretty easy and you can add what ever personal touches you would like that compliment your home. So let's get started......

So I gathered my sticks or you could go the easy route and buy them at the dollar store.  I prefer the thrill of the hunt vs. buying the sticks! I have Krylon Ivory spray paint,  a super cute bucket, wreath form, burlap (of course), reindeer moss (LOVE that stuff) and scissors.

First I broke up the wreath form and pushed it down into the bucket
Next I spray painted every stick with the ivory paint

I placed the reindeer moss ( man I love that stuff) AFTER I pushed the painted sticks in the foam. Although I
jumped ahead as I was taking pictures. Sorry I can be a little impatient at times.

After all the sticks were pushed into the foam, reindeer moss was placed on top.  Then I added a sweet burlap bow.
Simple! I love how it looks so spooky next to my sparklie haunted house! The neat thing
about painting sticks is that you can use them for any season, especially if you use white or even
a cream color.  Don't worry you will be seeing these sticks again somewhere in our home.

What do you think?  How else would you use sticks for decorating your home?

Well tomorrow is a new day maybe I can scrub the paint I ALWAYS have on my hands.  If you are around me on a weekly basis you will see the constant paint that stays on my hands.  I have given up trying to be neat as I create, it's more fun to be dirty!!!

Happy Crafting!!!

Everyone Needs a Little Glitter in their Day!

Pumpkins and Glitter

What do you do with a classroom full of preschoolers wearing their PJ's? Well you get the glitter and paint out of course!! Did you know that glitter makes everything better, especially for a two year old?? What fun we had making these, it only took us 3 hours to make 11 of them! HA!  Carmen my awesome co-teacher, you are a Saint for putting up with all my crazy ideas.  These lil beauties had the child's initial tapped on their pumpkin which also involved 3 no no's,  you are crazy, what were you thinking fun items when crafting with little ones....paint, glitter, and hot glue! Well I am happy to report no one ate any paint, threw glitter in the air to celebrate PJ day or squirted hot glue in their friends hair. Whew!   We had a great day making fun preschool memories.
